Extralegal income of Russians causes concern for tax service

SARATOV, Oct 8 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Tax Service has detected a serious difference between the officially registered earnings of Russians and their spending, which indicates under-the-table wages, the authority’s deputy head Svetlana Bondarchuk said on Tuesday.

“The data of the Federal State Statistics Service and the Federal Tax Service of Russia indicate a serious increase of spending over earnings of citizens, even taking into notice a serious loan debt burden. It was 44.8%, or 458 billion rubles, in the republic of Tatarstan in 2017, 31.5%, or 141 billion rubles, in the Saratov Region,” she said.

The problem is acute in all Russian regions and the legalization of income is being carried out too slowly, she added.
